Annually, the business community in Independence and Eastern Jackson County gather on the last Saturday evening of January to  collectively honor and celebrate exceptional individuals whose practice of commerce in this community has been extraordinarily noteworthy and whose contributions to the important initiatives, projects, and/or services that have enhanced the quality of life enjoyed by all has been exemplary.  Three prestigious awards (i.e. The Legacy Award, the Businessperson of the Year, and the Rising Star) will be bestowed to members of the local business community during the evening.
